Would you like to be part of the ROMAC Team?

ROMAC fulfils an exciting and very satisfying volunteer role within Rotary. It offers a unique chance to seriously help those who are disadvantaged. The reward received, after being part of a team that repairs a child’s broken life and sees them return home fit and well, is unbelievable. The contact, humility and gratification are astonishing. It is perhaps why many of us joined and remain in Rotary.

ROMAC has an ongoing process of fulfilling its orderly succession plan. The regular introduction of new people and fresh ideas ensures ROMAC continues its wonderful work saving the lives of over 550 children. ROMAC looks for Rotarians in the mould of those who have gone before – Rotarians who are self-motivated, committed and dedicated. All office-bearing positions are for a term of three years + one.

We are currently recruiting for:

HR, Training & Recruitment Chair

The HR, Training and Recruitment Chair leads a small team of volunteers, is a member of the ROMAC Engagement Committee and the ROMAC Management Committee, and must be a current member of a Rotary Club in Zone 8.

The role reports to the ROMAC Chair and is responsible for human resource management. It is an important role because ROMAC relies totally on volunteers to manage its activities. Their recruitment, induction, onboarding, training and performance management are key to the organisation’s success.

HR and training qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential. Experience in HR Management and adult learning would be an advantage, as well as previous experience leading a multi-tasked team or a Rotary District or Club. Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as information technologies. Must be organised and able to meet deadlines. See full role description.

Australian Operations Manager

Every year, about 30 children, with their carers, travel from their island homes to Australian hospitals for treatment. The Australian Operations Manager organises and manages the logistics of getting the children and their carers from their homes to their hospitals and host accommodation in Australia, and then home again.

The role is voluntary and means working from home 2-3 hours a day. It reports to the Director of Operations but is part of a large Operations team.

The ideal person will have organisational, office administration and database skills, with 10 plus years work experience in a related role such as administrator, project manager or travel agent. Very good verbal and written communication skills are needed for the liaison work between families, Rotarians and agencies, in Australia and overseas.

Experience in managing a patient database is helpful but training will be provided. Attention to detail and task management are important. Preferably, the person will be a Rotarian, but this is not essential. A passion for helping children is vital. See full role description.

The Director must be a current member of a Rotary Club in Zone 8 and should have considerable experience and knowledge of Rotary, its structure and operating procedures. The appointment is on an annual basis; up to a maximum of 3 x 1 year term plus 1 when necessary.

Experience in developing and implementing fundraising initiatives in not-for-profit, voluntary organisations is essential. The person needs senior leadership, management and financial skills, and excellent communication and problem solving competencies. See full role description.

The Chair must be a current member of a Rotary Club in Zone 8, should have considerable experience and knowledge of Rotary, its structure and operating procedures, and have served as a member of the ROMAC Board or Management Committee for at least 1 year. The appointment is on an annual basis; up to a maximum of 3 x 1 year term plus 1 when necessary.
